Over the years, Little Flower School has become one of the best schools in providing Christian value based quality education and catering to the needs of the girls not only in the neighbour hood but also girls from all over Kohima. But there was no Catholic school in the vicinity where the Catholic boys could be imparted quality education. Don Bosco School, Kohima and Loyola School, Jakhama, the nearest Catholic schools, where the Catholic boys could study, are around 8-10 kms away from the Cathedral. An urgent need was felt to set up a Parish school to cater to the needs of the community and also support pastoral activities of the new Parish. It was, therefore, decided to build St. Mary’s School at Lerie, some 3 kms away from the Cathedral, on a plot of land purchased from one Suresh Kandhu Solo of Tsütuonuomia Khel, Kohima village by Fr. Michael Mundathanathu SDB from Christ King Parish and handed over to the Cathedral Parish at the time of bifurcation. Construction works for the school began in 1991 under the initiative of the then Parish Priest, Fr. O.C. Abraham and despite opposition from other religious groups, the school was established in 1992. The school boundary disputes were gradually settled with the help of the community leaders and the boundary wall erected. The school playground was also made with the help of an Army bulldozer which had taken 18 days to complete the task. Subsequent Parish Priests, Assistant Priests, the community leaders, teachers and staff toiled hard to provide Christian value based education to the students. With dedicated teachers and auxiliary staff, the school has been achieving excellent results in the board examinations, with one of its’ students securing one of the three top second position in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination in 2012. The School was upgraded to Higher Secondary School (Arts) in 2010 and Science Stream was introduced in the year 2020.  Today, the school has a total enrolment of 0000 students.
